What you'll do with us
As COO, you own delivery and operations end to end: our ability to deliver and run our clients' solutions with quality, on time, and profitably. Rather than steering a single engagement or managing one specific team, you build the system that keeps delivery on track everywhere, across dozens of projects running in parallel. You work day to day with the CEO and the rest of the leadership team.
Vooban is about 275 people in Québec City, Montréal, and Toronto, with dozens of client projects running at the same time: all of delivery is yours. You shape projects, staff moves between teams, and trade-offs together with your team, but you make the final call. This role suits someone who likes to decide quickly when needed, and who then owns those decisions transparently.
Your responsibilities:
- Deliver. Deliver quality projects, on budget, for every one of our clients. This is your number one responsibility.
- Team capacity. You hold the single view of team availability and reserve capacity before a contract is signed.
- Partnering with the CRO. Work with the CRO to continuously improve how accurately we forecast the staffing needed for upcoming projects, and to strengthen the operations / sales feedback loop.
- Assigning projects and people. When a new engagement comes in, you decide who, or which team, will deliver it. You also decide on staff moves and priority conflicts.
- Delivery metrics. You define the metrics that really matter (margin, utilization, on-time delivery, client satisfaction, team health), set up the governance for tracking them (an owner for each metric, reporting cadence, reporting committee), and you lead that committee.
- Profitability, engagement by engagement. You track margin closely, approve significant concessions, and get off-target engagements back on track before the client or the team pays the price.
- Internal operations and commitments. You own our operating processes, decide when we subcontract rather than reassign people or hire, and every new vendor commitment goes through you.
- People. Regular 1:1s with your direct reports, hiring planning with managers and HR, and calibrating expectations and performance reviews so they're applied consistently from one team to the next.
Your profile
- Proven experience leading operations or delivery at a professional services, IT consulting, or software product firm, with multiple teams and several dozen people under your responsibility.
- Solid understanding of software delivery, enough to challenge teams without doing the work for them.
- Genuine fluency with AI and agents in operations: here, "how do we do this with 10% of the resources?" is an everyday question.
- Fluent in French and English, spoken and written.
- Experience with rapid growth or a large-scale organizational transformation (an asset).
