What You're Here to Do
As an AI Scientist, you've never believed AI comes down to calling an API. Instead of assembling prefab models and hoping they hold up, you understand what's happening under the hood and choose the right model (or the right chain of models) for the client's actual problem. You dive into data that's sometimes chaotic, look for correlations nobody else has spotted, and when information is missing, you go dig it up in complex environments. You work with other experts and directly with clients, from Quebec to Ontario. At Vooban, you work across several projects and business domains in parallel: machine learning, deep learning, RAG, LLM, NLP, computer vision, robotics. Nobody will dictate what to do. You define the solution, plan the sequence, and deliver, all while keeping the budget in mind.
What You'll Drive
- Own your projects from A to Z: define the solution, handle the technical build (sometimes with other experts), plan the timing and sequence, all within budget
- Dig through data, experiment, look for correlations, and unearth information even when it's buried in complicated environments
- Find the best model (or chain of models) for the client's need and build robust training pipelines to keep improving our models
- Train and deploy models in the cloud and on the edge
- Build visualizations that make results clear
Your profile
- You live in the province of Quebec and can travel to our Quebec City or Montreal offices a few times a year for team activities and in-person meetings
- You are fully bilingual in French and English, since our clients are located in both Quebec and Ontario
- You program in Python and truly understand how AI works, not just how to apply it
- Machine learning, deep learning, RAG, LLMs, NLP, computer vision, and robotics genuinely excite you
- You're comfortable navigating and making decisions without having all the information, and you quickly grasp a client's reality in a field you knew nothing about the day before
- You're a great communicator who enjoys advising clients and stepping outside your comfort zone

Patates Dolbec is the largest potato producer in eastern Canada. By implementing AI in their sorting machine, we have fully automated their quality control process, as well as avoided the waste of nearly 500,000 pounds of potatoes per year!

Did you know that threat detection on pipelines is currently done by pilots, who must fly over hundreds of kilometres while inspecting the infrastructure for potential dangers. The application we’re working on helps the pilot detect, validate, and report potential threats that the human eye and brain cannot process consistently.
Flyscan allowed us to try all sorts of new methodologies and to carry out their project the way we wanted!
